What’s In A Name?

June 1, 2015

If you’ve been reading this blog long, I’m sure you’ve wondered why it’s named “Louboutins and Lipstick” when you rarely see me in my Louboutins or any other high fashion labels like the name might imply. Rest assured, I always have my lipstick on!

I’m a big believer in wearing clothes from all price ranges. I’ve said it before, but I’m equal opportunity shopper. If I like it, I’ll buy it whether it’s from Saks or a consignment store. Money doesn’t buy style and it never will.

I think so many people feel like they have to wear a certain brand or label to fit in and/or be accepted. I used to. We’re all guilty of it at some point in our lives. Hopefully by the time you’re reading this all the Lilly for Target hoopla has died down, but that’s a perfect example. In this area (The South, North Carolina to be exact) girls live for Lilly. If that’s your thing, great, rock it, but I feel like so many girls wear it because they feel like they have to or they should. I like Lilly and I think some of it is cute, it’s just not something I choose to wear or invest in because I like black way too much. Bright colors all the time just isn’t my thing. In my personal opinion, wearing head to toe Lilly (or any other label) does not make you stylish. To me it projects that you know where to buy said label and have the means to pay for it. I don’t ever see someone in head to toe Lilly and thought, “Oh they are so stylish!” Wear what you want because you like it and you want it.

Clearly I digressed, but the whole point of this post is that you don’t have to wear or buy anything because it’s name brand or designer. I don’t have to wear Louboutins every day because that’s what I chose to name my blog. I’ve loved fashion for as long as I can remember. I had a subscription to Vogue while all my other friends were reading Seventeen. I studied fashion in college and it’s just my thing. I can truly appreciate fashion as a form of expression and an art. I’ve wanted a pair of Louboutins since I was in middle school so getting a pair was truly a dream come true. Whenever I wear them, I feel like a million bucks and everyone deserves that feeling no matter what they’re wearing!

Fashion should ALWAYS be fun, regardless of budget. Wear it, own it, love it, and don’t forget your lipstick!

Loving this Hannah! I definitely agree, you don’t have to wear something designer to be fashionable or look great!
