Blog Swap–Morning Routine

March 21, 2016

Hey y’all! As you can see from title, I’ve swapped blogs with Brittany from Kingdom of Sequins. Brittany blogs about fashion, beauty, and fitness. She is GORGEOUS and her makeup is always so on point. She also happens to have the cutest little family. I just wish Texas and NC weren’t so far away! Even though we’re separated by miles, we have formed a friendship through blogging.

Be sure to head to Kingdom of Sequins to see my morning routine and subscribe to Brittany’s blog!

The weekly, early mornings are a little crazy in our house! So much to do, so little time. I am usually the one getting everybody ready for the day since my husband is out the door no later than 7:00 am. My alarm goes off twice – I am the usual “20 more minutes” type of morning person. That extra 20 minutes is important 🙂 I normally run 2 miles every morning unless something else is happening that day where I have to leave the house earlier. It is usually pitch black so I take my trusted black lab for protection and to get some of his hyper energy out. Then its a nice, cold shower and hair. OH and of course my FIRST cup of coffee! 🙂

Lately, my child has been wanting to sleep with mommy every night. I don’t know if it the age or if he’s going through a clingy stage but it is becoming more frequent. Within 15 minutes of me putting him to bed, he is sneaking into our bed. Me being the “whatever you want” type of mother I just let it happen. (It is easier for mornings lol) He will sleep in until about 7:00 am and then the toddler is AWAKE! I try to get as much done as possible before he wakes up… He watches cartoons while I get ready and or he is playing Ninja Turtles or Super Heroes. I am usually the one getting everybody ready for the day since my husband is out the door no later than 7:00 am.

Before my husband leaves for work I try to get lunches made. This is usually right after I dry my hair, (let my straightener warm up) before I start makeup. I also make Ridge breakfast to take to school. Then I feed the dogs and give them their heartworm pills. I also have to make sure they have pottied before they are locked up for the day. Then its on to finish make-up and get dressed. Oh yes and make sure Ridge is up, dressed, teeth brushed and hair done for the day. That’s about a 15 minutes process…. Remember, my husband has already left by now.

Once we are both dressed and ready to go, we put the dogs in their kennels. I used to feel terrible about leaving them in these all day but now they don’t hesitate to go in their kennels. I have heard it is like a safe and comfortable place for them so they don’t mind it. I sure hope so 🙂 Then, I make sure Ridge has everything he needs for school (milk, breakfast, folder etc) grab our 20 bags for the day, turn off all lights, straighteners, tvs, games and finally leave!! If we have accomplished all of this by 7:45 am then that is a miracle.

Now we are in the car and ready to roll. First, I drop off Ridge at school. Then, I usually head to Smoothie King for an acai bowl (this one is Banana Berry) and then head to work. I will have my second cup of coffee of the day and enjoy breakfast. All of this happens before a crazy, hectic work day but I wouldn’t change it for one second.

Not everyday is a smooth process. Some days Ridge wakes up super cranky or the dogs are just not cooperating. I could be having a bad hair day or I get distracted by something outside. Whatever the case, mornings in our family are always interesting. I would love to hear about your morning routine and get a different perspective of how it runs.

What is your normal morning routine? What are some other blog swap ideas you guys would like to see?

Brittany 🙂

My gosh, Brittany, you get SO much done in a short time! I get up super early and slack! LOL! I’m not a morning person at all, so I take my time doing everything. And I agree, those extra 20 minutes are EVERYTHING!
You look beautiful! Heading over to your blog now!

Brittany came up with this idea and it was so much fun! I’m not a morning person either. I usually have to remind myself that I need my job and the income at least 4 times before I can pry myself out of bed. I think you’ll love her blog too!!
